A traditional Hot Toddy is a combination of bourbon, honey, and lemon juice topped with boiling hot water. It is a classic winter warmer and often used as a soothing treatment for head colds. This is my rif on the traditional, swapping orange or clementine juice for the lemon, and cinnamon flavored tea for the water. If I’m going with a caffeinated tea, I enjoy Harney & Son’s Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea; if I’m using decaf, Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice Herbal Tea is my go-to. The measurements in this recipe are merely estimates—use the ingredients to taste.
1 Tbsp honey
1-2 oz bourbon
1 oz orange or clementine juice
3-4 oz cinnamon tea
Combine the honey, bourbon, and citrus juice in a mug or teacup. Top with the cinnamon tea and stir to combine. Serve immediately.
