Elderflower Gin & Tonic

Summer vacation is upon us!  That calls for a cocktail—be it celebratory or for your sanity (for me, it’s the latter).  This light and refreshing concoction is a twist on the classic gin and tonic.  In lieu of adding a lime wedge, I like to add a splash of St. Germaine, which is an elderflower liquor.  It provides a citrusy note (comparable to grapefruit) and a mild sweetness, taking this G & T to the next level.  It is the perfect drink for a hot summer evening spent lounging on a porch or sitting on a patio.  Cheers!

1 oz gin of choice (I like Tanqueray)

1/2 oz St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur

3 oz tonic, chilled

Strip of lemon zest

Fill a rocks glass halfway with ice.  Add the lemon zest to the glass.  Pour in the gin and elderflower liqueur, then top it with the tonic.  Serve immediately.

Serves 1

🥃 Be sure to chill your tonic well in advance—it makes all the difference in the world!
