My husband loves trying different cocktails, so when his birthday rolled around, I decided to introduce him to this classic.  My parents first turned me onto it when I was in college (gin was my booze of choice in those halcyon days), and I have been a fan ever since.  There are many fond memories involving this beverage, including receiving one on the house at a bar in New York City.  The bar tender claimed he was impressed that I, a wide eyed twenty-two-year-old, ordered it instead of one of the usual shots or cocktails consumed by early-twenty-somethings.  Chances are pretty good he was more impressed with my “going out in NYC as a stupid twenty-two-year-old” outfit.  At any rate, I gladly took the free drink and went on my way with the friends I was visiting.  Those were the days…

5 oz gin

2 oz Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice

Fill a cocktail shaker or mason jar with ice.  Pour in the gin and sweetened lime juice.  Place the lid on the vessel and shake vigorously to combine.  Serve in chilled martini glasses or in rocks glasses over ice.

Serves 2

🍸 If you don’t want to buy Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice, you can make your own by combining equal parts lime juice and simple syrup.
